Project Manager

Public Works – Transportation

Regular Full-Time


Reporting to the Manager, Sustainable Transportation you will develop, coordinate and implement transportation programs and services promoting active and sustainable travel options for Peel Region. You will work collaboratively with the public and private sectors to improve mobility and establish active/sustainable transportation options by planning, developing and building active/sustainable infrastructure, managing travel demand, and undertaking projects to promote the health, environmental and financial benefits of reducing single occupant vehicle trips



Initiate and manage projects relating to active transportation planning and design, construction projects, surveys, reports and briefings
Conduct long range transportation studies and strategic reviews with a focus on active and sustainable transportation
Review and interpret transportation policy and prepare expert opinions with respect to Regional and Local Official Plans, Local Secondary Plans, the policies of Provincial Legislation and the Official Plans of adjoining municipalities as to their impact on the Regional Official Plan transportation policies and direction
Provide transportation comments on land use/transportation plans, in particular, active and sustainable transportation related comments on development applications and environmental assessment studies
Build partnerships and respond to transportation related queries from other levels of governments, stakeholders and the public
Represent and defend the Region’s transportation planning policies and interests at the Ontario Municipal Board and other tribunals
Represent the Region on working committees and technical advisory teams

University degree in Urban Planning, Engineering, Environmental Studies or diploma in Transportation/Civil Engineering Technology
Five (5) or more years of industry related work experience
Strong project management skills including the preparation of requests for proposals and experience managing project budgets and developing, monitoring and evaluating new programs
Solid communication and interpersonal skills to work to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, volunteers and committee members
Specialization in the field of active and sustainable transportation policy, transportation impact analysis and traffic operations and planning and implementation and analysis of related projects/programs
Knowledge and understanding of active transportation related legislation, strategies, standards and guidelines
Strong analytical, problem-solving and proficient computer skills
Membership in the Professional Engineers of Ontario, OPPI/CIP  or OACETT would be considered an asset
Master’s Degree or further post-secondary education in transportation planning would be an asset
Ontario “G” license in good standing
Position Location: One (1) regular full-time – 10 Peel Centre Drive, Suite B, Brampton

Hours of Work: 8:30am – 4:30pm Monday through Friday
