We have an exciting Temporary Non-Unionized opportunity in the Development Engineering Department for an experienced and motivated individual

Senior Transportation Analyst

(Contract – Up to 18 Months)

Responsible for the interpretation, analysis, evaluation and implementation of development applications, and the preparation of reports with recommendations to Council, both individually and in support of the Transportation Engineer; providing the public, other Municipal departments and Regional and Provincial authorities, information on both general transportation matters and specific applications; attending various public meetings to provide information, make presentations, and receive input into transportation initiatives; implement goals and objective of Vaughan Vision. Review and coordinate special transportation planning projects and programs including the preparation of Terms of Reference; prepare engineering designs, plans and reports; review and recommend updates to City standards. Coordinate and oversee the work activities of assigned technical staff.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Community College diploma in a three (3) year Community College Program in Transportation or Civil Engineering Technology program and certification as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designation in good standing in the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technologists and Technicians.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of municipal engineering experience, including three (3) years in Transportation Engineering or Planning.
  • Proficient in the application of computer software programs related to areas of municipal servicing, project engineering/planning, transportation engineering/planning or project coordination and administration in accordance with job responsibilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical/interpretive, and oral and written communication skills. Ability to deal courteously and effectively with public, consultants, developers, builders and contractors, etc.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customers service, communication, team work, initiative/self management, leadership, accountability, and flexibility/adaptability.
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other relevant Provincial statutes and regulations, in accordance with job responsibilities.
  • Valid Class “G” Ontario driver’s license in good standing with a reliable vehicle when required, to utilize on City business.

OR

  • University degree in Civil Engineering
  • Eligible and working towards full membership in the Professional Engineers of Ontario.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of municipal engineering experience, including Transportation Engineering or Planning.
  • Proficient in the application of computer software programs related to areas of municipal servicing, project engineering/planning, transportation engineering/planning or project coordination and administration in accordance with job responsibilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical/interpretive, and oral and written communication skills. Ability to deal courteously and effectively with internal staff, external agencies, public, consultants, developers, builders and contractors, etc.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customers service, communication, tem work, initiative/self management, leadership, accountability, and flexibility/adaptability.
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other relevant Provincial statutes and regulations, in accordance with job responsibilities.
  • Valid Class “G” Ontario driver’s license in good standing with a reliable vehicle when required, to utilize on City business.
