We currently have a unique opportunity for an experienced Traffic and Street Use Manager to join the leadership team in the Transportation Division of our Engineering and Public Works Department.   This position will report to the Manager Transportation and be responsible for professional services focused on leading a group of technical staff representing Road Safety, Street Use, and Traffic Signal Operations. Your transportation engineering expertise and proven leadership experience will provide the basis to achieve innovative, cost effective solutions to traffic and transportation issues within neighborhoods, the community at large, and support Coquitlam’s role in the region.  

 

We are looking for an innovative and driven senior manager with strong verbal and written communication, leadership and problem solving skills.  The ideal candidate will also have:

Strong business and political acumen,
Demonstrated experience with budget management, including Capital, Operating and Revenue Budgets,
Project management experience to deliver complex traffic and street use projects and programs,
Mentoring, coaching, and performance management skills and experience, and
The ability to build strong partnerships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
 

In addition to a post-secondary degree in engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent education and experience, the candidate brings a minimum of 5 years of progressive transportation operations and management related experience, preferably within a municipal or regional government setting.  Preference will be given to candidates with a professional designation in engineering or related discipline.  Membership in the Institute of Transportation Engineers and/or Certification from a Project Management Institute would be considered assets. A valid class 5 BC Driver’s Licence with a satisfactory driving record is required.
