The York Region Bus Rapid Transit is a transit facility servicing York Region. Connecting to the northern terminus stations of the TTC subway system with routes along Yonge St. and Hwy. 7 linking Highway 50 in Vaughan to Cornell in Markham and Davis Drive in Newmarket.
Operating under the VIVA platform, it offers 6 operational BRT routes with connections to local transit services in the GTA including YRT, GO Transit and TTC. The facility opened to the public in stages, the first section being in 2005, with ultimate build-out envisioned at approximately 35 kilometers of Rapid Transit Routes.
Richard Wizemann, Public Relations Coordinator at York Regional Transit, will lead us on a guided tour of the BRT facility. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is NOT required as the Transitway and its stations are now fully opened to the public.
Meet the Charter bus at 2pm at Pioneer Village Station. The bus will be marked with a “Charter” sign.
