Members from the Advisory Committee on Accessibility (ACA) offer their insight about disability, accessibility and inclusion. This is an unique opportunity to hear a cross-disability perspective on accessibility and what Transportation Engineers get right and                   where they can do better. Learn about the City of Calgary Advisory Committee on Accessibility and the work the committee undertakes to make Calgary accessible to all


SPEAKERS:  Lui Greco, Pat Almond & Cal Schuler


Lui is the National Manager of Advocacy with the CNIB. In this role, Lui works with government and industry stakeholders with the aim of addressing barriers facing Canadians with sight loss. Lui has extensive lived experience having called 4 provinces home at different times. He has navigated his way in the built environment with a cane but dominantly users a guide dog now. Lui is also an avid cyclist and community volunteer


Pat acts as liaise between the Access Design sub-committee and the Advisory Committee for Accessibility with the City of Calgary. He brings to this important role a wide breadth of experience including acting as a health and safety consultant to the Alberta Construction Association, SAIT and many private companies. Pat has written many technical courses for various institutions and contributed greatly to the evolution of safety within the construction industry.


Cal works as a Diversity and Accessibility Consultant with Calgary Alternative Employment Services. Cal has worked tirelessly in both his career and through volunteer activities with the overall goal of assisting others who live with disabilities. He has made great strides in promoting disability awareness and barrier-free environments. Cal has served on many boards and committees on both the provincial and local level and his efforts have won him much recognition including the Queens Golden jubilee medal, the Access Recognition Award and 2 separate awards from the Premiers Council on the Status of Persons with Disabilities Award for Excellence.
