OTC Intersection Safety Course
April 21, 2016 - April 22, 2016
The OTC Intersection Safety Course is taking place April 21 & 22 at the Le Jardin Conference Centre, Woodbridge.
This comprehensive two-day course encompasses all forms of at-grade intersections (unsignalized, signalized and roundabouts) and the safety of their users (pedestrians, bicycles, vehicles and others).
The first day begins with an overview of the state-of-the practice in road user safety, common safety issues, the Highway Safety Manual (HSM) and road authority liability. The remainder of the course systematically walks the participants through common safety issues and remedial action, first by intersection control type, and then from the perspective of each type of user.
Each module includes cases studies from actual in-service safety reviews, safety audits and/or legal cases in Ontario, and direct linkages to the HSM and other primary technical resources. This two-day course is unique in North America and is readily applicable to many aspects of transportation planning, design, operations and maintenance.
