Topic: Consequences of Climate Change on Transportation Infrastructure
Climate change is one of the foremost challenges of our time. Integrated actions to improve the resilience of transportation systems are needed to reduce the damaging effects of climate change on transportation infrastructure. Various aspects of climate related impacts, adaptive measures, risk mitigation, and engineering practices for cost effective maintenance and service level improvement will be presented along with an exploration of innovations from a local to global perspective that provide insight into climate change and its impact on transportation infrastructure.
Speaker Bio: Saidur Rahman, Ph. D., P. Eng.
Saidur Rahman, Ph.D., P. Eng., is Senior Infrastructure Project Manager with the Town of Oakville and an Adjunct Professor at Ryerson University. Dr. Rahman has also worked at the National Research Council (NRC) in the role of Researcher-Municipal Infrastructure Investment Planning (MIIP) projects. He has been involved in academic research in Japan and Canada on damage diagnosis, Non-destructive Evaluation (NDE) and Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) for bridges and structures. Dr. Rahman has presented numerous technical courses and presentations on infrastructure asset management, innovative and green infrastructure, risks in construction businesses and climate change impacts and adaptive measures for transportation infrastructure systems. He is a present member of Project Management Institute (PMI), Institute of Asset Management (UK) and American Public Works Association (APWA).
