$20 – $150Make it Count! Using pedestrian and bicycle count data to monitor active transportation progress
Speaker: Olivia White, Client Consultant, Eco-Counter
Summary: If you don’t count, it doesn’t count. Bike and pedestrian count data is an essential tool to justify investments, capture seasonal trends, plan future pedestrian and cycling infrastructure, communicate with stakeholders and the public, and much more. This presentation will showcase different communities in Canada and the US that have established region-wide counting programs in collaboration with Eco-Counter. Using different types of counters, from real-time displays to discrete trail counters, each community customized their counting program to fit their needs. Through exploring these examples, the capabilities of different types of counter and how the count data is analyzed will be presented.
