ITE Toronto Section Spring Luncheon
April 5, 2017 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
The end of winter is always a cause for celebration – please join us so we can celebrate together at the ITE Toronto Section Spring Luncheon! The luncheon will be held at The Loft, located within the historic Distillery District. We are very excited to announce that our speaker will be Barbara Gray, the General Manager of Transportation Services for the City of Toronto.
We suggest you consider carpool and transit options when planning your trip to the luncheon. Have you ridden the 514 – Cherry Streetcar yet?
Barbara Gray took on the position of General Manager, Transportation Services in December 2016. She assumed this role after 17 years with the City of Seattle where she has held a series of senior positions involved in transportation and land use planning and design, culminating in her 2014 appointment as Deputy Director of the Department of Transportation. Her responsibilities in Seattle included complete streets implementation, regulatory code development, design standards, and pedestrian and bicycling planning and design. Barbara also has had extensive experience in the private sector as an urban design and transportation planning consultant providing services to federal, state and local agencies and community groups.
While in Seattle, Barbara oversaw daily operations for policy, planning, transit, right-of-way management and public realm divisions. She played a key role in both project and program delivery including Mayoral priority initiatives such as the Move Seattle Levy, Complete Streets, safety and transit projects including bus rapid transit and streetcar line extensions. Most recently, Barbara provided executive oversight to the One Center City Transportation and Public Realm Plan–a $1.8M, four-agency partnership that establishes the 20-year plan for Seattle’s growing Center City transportation network and led her team to launch innovative operations and maintenance programs including a public realm activation program, enhanced inspection efforts, improved pedestrian access through construction zones, a 24/7 Transportation Operations Center and a Project Coordination Office.
In her new role, Barbara will add her unique experiences in leading Transportation division priorities such as the Vision Zero Road Safety Plan, Congestion Management Plan, and Ten Year Cycling Network. In addition, her focus will be on strategies to reduce congestion and commute times as well as improve road closure management. She will also lead initiatives to improve operational efficiencies, provide excellent customer service, improve transportation accessibility and reliability, create vibrant streets and public places, leverage technology and open data to create new partnerships and work toward eliminating the state of good repair backlog.
An opportunity for corporate sponsorship is now available at $300 during the AGM event. Each sponsor will be able to bring a Board (24” x 36”) or Roll-up Board with Banner Stand (24” to 33” x 80”) to promote its transportation services.
