ITE Manitoba Luncheon and Waverley Underpass Tour
September 18, 2018 @ 11:30 am - 1:30 pm CDT$15 – $30
The meeting will include two phases: a presentation on the planning and design of the Waverley Underpass and a walking tour of the underpass, which is currently under construction.
The presentation will be held at the offices of Dillon Consulting Limited, at 1558 Willson Place. Buffet lunch will be provided by Qdoba. After the presentation, attendees will walk to the Waverley Underpass site, approximately 1 km away.
The presentation and tour will be led by David Wiebe, P. Eng., PTOE, and Adam Prokopanko, EIT, MCP, both from Dillon Consulting Limited.
David is a Professional Engineer and Partner with Dillon. He has nineteen years of experience working on a variety of transportation engineering and planning projects. David was the Transportation Engineer for the preliminary design, and has been the project manager for the detailed design and construction of the Waverley Underpass over the past four years, leading a large interdisciplinary team.
Adam is a Planner and EIT with Dillon. He has four years of experience working on transportation and transit planning projects in Manitoba, Alberta, Ontario, and New Brunswick. Adam was responsible for active transportation design and stakeholder consultation for the Waverley Underpass.
Registrations for the meeting are limited to a total of 40 people, in two groups of no more than 20 people each. Timing will be staggered such that the first group will begin the presentation at 11:45 AM and conclude the site tour at 1:00 PM, and the second group will begin the presentation at 12:15 PM and conclude the site tour at 1:30 PM. Please register for either the first or the second group.
Tickets are pre-distributed between students and regular members, but the distribution can be adjusted based on demand. If–for example–you are a student and only regular member tickets remain, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to have a student ticket made available.
The tour will be conducted entirely on public sidewalks and multi-use paths—with no excursions onto the construction site—so personal protective equipment is not required. Weather and walking-appropriate footwear and dress is recommended, as the tour will involve significant walking time (~45 minutes) and the tour will proceed, rain or shine.
Winnipeg Transit Route 78 (Waverley) provides access to Waverley Street near Willson Place.
The price of the luncheon is $30.00 for members and friends and $15.00 for students. Registration and online payment MUST be completed by 12:00 PM on Friday, September 14th, 2018. Registration can be completed here.
Hope to see you there!
