ITE Hamilton Section Luncheon

Topic: Connected and Automated Vehicles – Past, Present, and Future
Mike’s presentation will give an overview of Connected and Automated Vehicles, how they started out, pilots / testing occurring now, both within an Ontario and Canadian context, as well as what is happening in other jurisdictions around the world. Finally he will explore the impacts these vehicles are likely to have, the anticipated benefits, potential side effects, lessons that should be considered from other disruptive technologies, and how we should prepare for their arrival.
Speaker Bio: Mike Barnet, Associate Partner, Senior Project Manager, CIMA+, specializes in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Traffic Safety. He brings 13 years of experience in both the private and public sector environments. He is a proven leader in the development and integration of a wide variety of techniques, technologies, and policies in response to ITS, safety and traffic operations issues. Prior to joining CIMA+, Mike worked for the Ministry of Transportation Ontario, where he developed numerous research, funding, and strategic action plans specifically for Connected and Automated vehicles. Mike Barnet is a practicing Professional Engineer licensed in the Province of Ontario, and also holds certifications from the Project Management Institute and the Project Management Association of Canada.
