ITE Hamilton Luncheon

The next Speaker Event and Luncheon of the ITE Hamilton Section is scheduled for Wednesday, October 4, 2017.

Registration: 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Lunch: 12:00 p.m. – 12:45 p.m.
Guest Speaker: 12:45 p.m. – 1:15 p.m.
Cost: $40 per person, $25 for students (cash or cheque)

Topic: Niagara Region Transportation Master Plan “Here We Go”

The Niagara Region Transportation Master Plan (TMP) is a comprehensive strategic planning document that defines policies, programs, and infrastructure improvements required to address transportation and growth needs from today through to 2041.

This session will focus on specific components of the Niagara Region TMP which are of interest to the ITE membership. The presentation topics will include an overview of the project, Complete Streets (Typologies, Planning and Operational Polices), 2041 Road Network (Planning, Costs and DC Funding), and the Niagara-Hamilton Trade Corridor (National Trade Corridor Funding).

 Guest Speakers:

John McGill, P. Eng., PTOE, Program Director, Parsons

John has over 36 years of experience in transportation and traffic engineering in both the public and private sector providing him with a wide perspective on issues and current approaches to transportation planning and engineering.  John’s balance of private and public sector experience provides him with a good understanding of his client’s needs and limitations. John has extensive experience on transportation projects involving Transportation Master Plan studies, Environmental Assessments, traffic and corridor studies, and traffic safety.

 Jack Thompson, President, Thompson Ho Transportation Incorporated

Mr. Jack Thompson is President of Thompson Ho Transportation Incorporated.  thtinc was recently formed by experienced transportation planning experts to provide transportation planning services to public sector agencies and provide transportation planning support to consulting firms in pursuit of planning and multi-modal hub studies.

Jack has over 45 years’ transportation planning experience and throughout his career has worked on numerous transportation master plans and transportation system plans for municipalities in Southern Ontario including:

  • Region of Niagara TMP
  • City of Hamilton TMP
  • Town of Halton Hills TMP
  • Vaughan Corporate Centre Transportation Plan

He has held senior positions in both municipal and consulting firms specializing in project management; environmental assessment studies, master plan studies, multi-modal planning, transportation system planning, and concept/feasibility studies.

Jack is currently providing consultant support services to the Region of Niagara and managed the delivery of the Region of Niagara TMP, obtaining Council approval on June 20, 2017.
