Creating Confidence: Resilience of Supply Chains

Carleton University (Ottawa) will be hosting a unique and innovative workshop on October 24-25, 2016titled “Creating Confidence: Resilience of Supply Chains”.  This workshop will be an opportunity for delegates to exchange views on this subject of importance to all parts of the country and the continent, including the roles of policy and governments.

Key components of the supply chain, including multi-modal freight transportation will be covered. The organizing committee consists of members from Carleton University as well as Government of Canada ministries, namely Transport Canada and Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada. Panelists from industry, international organizations, associations, government, and academia will join in this important policy dialogue.

The first session of this high level workshop will feature the importance of supply chain resilience. That will be followed by panel discussions from the shippers’ and transport providers’ perspectives, respectively. Day 2 will involve two sessions in the morning: one on empirical evidence and technical innovation in supply chain resilience (featuring work at Carleton University), and one on the role of government policy and best practices.
