Technical Liaison Committee
OVERVIEW
The Canadian District’s Representative for the International Coordinating Council (ICC) is the Chair of the TLC, with five (5) members nominated as representatives from across Canada, as well as from the public and private sectors. All TLC members must remain CITE members in good standing throughout the period of their appointment.
BACKGROUND
Formed in early 2006, the purpose of the TLC is to address communications and technical project/initiatives as a liaison between District 7 members, the CITE Executive and ITE International. The TLC mandate is to ensure that District 7 members have the opportunity to participate in technical projects and policy development through:
- ITE Council participation;
- Dissemination of technical projects/initiatives through ITE and other organizations; and
- Management of District 7 technical projects.
The TLC meets in-person twice a year typically in the late fall and at the CITE Annual Conference. Committee funds are available to offset associated travel costs, and conference calls are held periodically to maintain communications and committee progress in the interim.
MISSION AND MANDATE
- Quality technical products and services to Canadian transportation community
- Raise technical competency of Canadian transportation community
- International technical information dissemination to our membership
- Canadian members increased access to, and awareness of, ITE products and services
- Oversee Canadian technical activities and projects
- Engage Canadian membership in international technical activities
- Promote Canadian technical products and services
- Monitor Canadian satisfaction with CITE technical products and services
- Serve multiple disciplines of transportation community
- Identify Canadian technical needs and issues
- Minimize bureaucracy /focus on products and services
- Co-ordinate Canadian membership participation on international Council Executive
- Recommend Canadian representation at Transportation Certification Board Inc.
- Manage and promote Canadian members for awards, including sections, individuals, and projects
BUDGET
- Annual budget developed by the TLC then presented to CITE Executive for approval
- Budget to be shared amongst members as per need
- CITE revenues should increase from training sessions, sale of new publications, ad sales
