ACTIVE PROJECT
Vehicle Kilometres Travelled (VKT) Methodology
Chair: Zorana McDaniel
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The project objective is to develop a standardized, repeatable method of calculating Vehicle Kilometres Travelled (VKT) that could be used nation-wide. The data on which the method is based should be measurable, easy to understand, and simple and cost-effective to collect. The VKT estimates should be comparable to estimates reported by other cities which are very important for benchmarking with other Canadian cities.
PROJECT STATUS (as of November 10, 2011)
The TLC project VKT – Canadian Methodology is underway. The CITE members’ survey (conducted in June 2011) provided valuable information regarding current VKT calculation methodologies in Canadian municipalities. Currently, the VKT team members are analyzing results and preparing recommendations. The information report will be available by the end of January 2012.
