School Site Development and Operations – Information Report

Co-Chair: Mike Cynecki

Co-Chair: Brandon Forrey

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The purpose of this project is to develop a set of best practices and guidelines for reference by school/designers, land use planners, transportation planners and traffic operations. The guidelines will cover both public and private school operations, which may include daycare facilities.

The Information Report will include, but not be limited to, the following components:

  • Site Selection and Location;
  • Identification of Operational Requirements;
  • Site Layout;
  • Parking and Drop-Off Facilities;
  • On-Site Transportation Operations; and
  • On-Street Transportation Operations.

The School Site Selection, Design, and Transportation Information Report is in draft form and currently being reviewed by the committee.  An approved draft is expected to be provided to ITE by the end of the calendar year.  Following that, the report will require final approval through ITE.

Note: this study was the first active project that the TLC endorsed, and has since been taken up as a project by the ITE International Traffic Engineering Council.
