Scholarships & Awards

 

CITE offers several annual scholarships and awards for ITE Student Members enrolled in transportation programs at accredited Canadian universities and colleges.

Dr. Michel Van Aerde Memorial Transportation Scholarship

Applicants for the annual $2,000 scholarship must be:

  • enrolled in an accredited transportation engineering program at the Doctorate level at a Canadian university;

  • an ITE member; and

  • either a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada

The recipient will also receive free registration and up to $1,000 to reimburse travel expenses to attend the 2008 CITE Annual Conference in Victoria, B.C. from April 26 to 30, 2008 and be recognized at the Annual Awards Luncheon.

John Vardon Memorial Transportation Scholarship

Applicants for the annual $2,000 scholarship must be:

  • enrolled in an accredited transportation engineering program at the Masters level at a Canadian university;

  • an ITE member; and

  • either a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada

The recipient will also receive free registration and up to $1,000 to reimburse travel expenses to attend the 2008 CITE Annual Conference in Victoria, B.C. from April 26 to 30, 2008 and be recognized at the Annual Awards Luncheon.

CITE iTrans Undergraduate Scholarship

 

New this year, applicants for the annual $2,000 scholarship must be:

  • Completing their second or third year of studies in planning, geography or engineering at a Canadian university;

  • An ITE member; and

  • Either a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.

The application must be accompanied by a technical paper related to the field of transportation.  The paper, which must be less than 1,000 words, does not have to be original work, but must be presented in a form solely developed and written by the applicant without correction or additions by their professors.

The recipient will also receive free registration and up to $1,000 to reimburse travel expenses to attend the 2008 CITE Annual Conference in Victoria, B.C. from April 26 to 30, 2008 and be recognized at the Annual Awards Luncheon.

Student Paper Competition

Sponsored by Stantec Consulting Ltd.

Applicants for the annual $500 award:

  • must be enrolled in an accredited transportation program at a Canadian university or college;

  • must be an ITE member;

  • have completed the work that provides the basis for the paper while a ITE Student Member; and

  • must be the sole author.

The award is based on the technical merit and writing ability demonstrated in the paper, which must be at least 1,000 words.  The paper must be related to the field of transportation. 

The recipient will also receive free registration and up to $1,000 to reimburse travel expenses to attend the CITE Annual Conference in Victoria, B.C. from April 26 to 30, 2008 and present their paper.  In addition, an abridged version of the paper will be published in CITE’s Transportation Talk newsletter. 

The winning paper will be entered in the ITE International Student Paper Competition.  The International winner will receive $1,000 (US) to reimburse travel expenses to attend the ITE International Annual Meeting in Anaheim, CA, USA, from August 17 to 20, 2008 to receive their award.

Student Presentation Competition 

Annually, CITE offers each Section $400 to host a local Student Presentation Competition.  Contact your Section Representative to find out more 

One of the local Section competition winners will be invited to deliver their presentation at the 2008 CITE Annual Conference in Victoria, B.C. from April 26 to 30, 2008.  The recipient will receive free registration and up to $1,000 to reimburse travel expenses to attend.
