Professional Experience

ITE has been my professional organization of choice throughout my academic and professional careers. I have actively participated in ITE activities at the student chapter, section, district and international levels, and would bring this knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to my role on the CITE Executive Committee.

As President, I would work with the other Executive Committee members and the Sections to continue the many successful CITE activities already underway, and advance new initiatives in four key areas that complement the CITE Strategic Plan:

Facilitating professional development through the delivery of more workshops and training sessions on topics such as sustainable transportation, road safety, traffic impact analysis and use of transportation software. I would also work to provide access to more continuing education opportunities through internet-based courses and seminars, and co-operative initiatives with other associations delivering transportation-related training.

Acting as a “voice for the transportation professional”. Unlike many transportation associations in Canada, CITE is an individual member based organization. For this reason, CITE has a mandate to increase awareness and recognition for transportation professionals in the press, and with employers, elected officials and the public across the country. I would work to develop more public information tools and lead responsible advocacy initiatives.

Stimulating and supporting new technical projects of interest to the membership. From my experience in leading two CITE-sponsored projects, these initiatives are the most visible and valuable products CITE offers. I would continue to explore partnerships with ITE International and other organizations as a means to produce more technical products in a more cost-effective manner.

Encouraging more students to enter the transportation profession and become ITE members. During my tenure on the Toronto Section executive I helped to establish the very successful student presentation competition. I would continue to encourage student chapter activities and support transportation programs and research in Canada.
