CITE 2012 - Winnipeg, MB, May 27th - 30th - Transportation at the Heart of it All

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

The CITE invites all interested transportation and planning professionals to participate in CITE’s Annual Conference – May 27 to 30, 2012 – at the Heart of the Continent in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Our 2012 theme is Transportation: At the Heart of It All. The purpose of our conference is for transportation professionals to share knowledge and gain insight into emerging issues and technological advancements that influence our profession.

Individuals are encouraged to submit abstracts for any of the session topics listed. Submissions for topics other than those listed may also be considered.

In addition to the technical tracks, CITE is encouraging more interactive knowledge-sharing opportunities for both presenters and registrants through the implementation of Panel Discussions, Workshops, and Roundtable Sessions. If you are interested in possibly developing your presentation into one of these other initiatives, please check the appropriate box under ‘Additional Considerations’ on the Abstract Submission Form. During the abstract review process, the Review Panel will evaluate whether your proposed topic would be effective in one of these forums. If selected, a panel member will contact you with further information.

IMPORTANT DATES

  • Abstract due: November 25, 2011
  • Notification of tentative approval: by December 16, 2011
  • Submission of full paper for final review: February 17, 2012
  • Full paper screening: Week of March 5, 2012
  • Revised material and/or paper due (if requested): April 6, 2012

SUBMISSION PROCESS

Abstracts should be 300 to 500 words in length and provide details on the background of the issue(s) addressed, objectives of the work described, methodology applied and conclusions reached. All abstracts must be submitted with the enclosed Abstract Submission Form in electronic format (MS Word preferred, PDF acceptable) to Winnipeg2012_abstracts@cite7.org no later than November 25, 2011.

Abstracts will be reviewed for quality, theme relevance, general interest, and overall significance. Proposed papers must also be new, original or significantly different from any other that the author may have submitted to other organizations for presentation or publication (exceptions may apply). Note: papers that favour special interests or are commercial in nature will not be considered.

Those authors whose abstracts receive tentative approval will be asked to submit a full paper by February 17, 2012. The full paper will then be screened in accordance with the above-mentioned criteria. Following this final screening, the paper will be: (1) conditionally accepted; (2) conditionally accepted based on specific revisions being made; or (3) rejected.

All authors will be required to adhere to format guidelines included with their tentative acceptance. Failure to abide by these guidelines may result in a paper being eliminated either from the conference session, the formal proceedings, or both.

When an author submits a paper to CITE in response to this Call for Abstracts, the document becomes the licensed property of CITE, who is then entitled to publish. A Copyright License form is currently being developed, and will be made available online prior to the submission deadline for full papers.

CONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE

For all intents and purposes conditional acceptance, whether with or without revisions, indicates that your presentation will be included in the conference schedule. To maintain your presentation’s position within the schedule, the following terms of fulfillment must be met:

(1) All requested revisions (if any) are incorporated into the final paper and delivered to CITE no later than April 6, 2012, and

(2) Identified presenter, or co-author replacement if necessary, is registered for the conference no later than April 18, 2012.

Failure to meet the terms of fulfillment could result in your paper being withdrawn from the conference schedule.
