Canadian Guide to Promoting Sustainable Transportation Through Site Design

Interim Report Release

CITE RELEASES INTERIM RESEARCH REPORT FOR CANADIAN GUIDE TO PROMOTING SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORTATION THROUGH SITE DESIGN PROJECT

CITE has recently released the first product from its Canadian Guide to Promoting Sustainable Transportation Through Site Design project.  The Interim Research Report – Needs Assessment and Best Practices report summarizes the results of research that was undertaken to support and guide the development of the Guide.  The report is organize into four chapters:

  • Chapter 2 provides an overview of the rationale for increasing the use of sustainable transportation modes and how site design can influence the use of these modes.

  • Chapter 3 provides a summary of the investigations that were undertaken to establish the general directions for the Guide, including telephone and internet surveys.

  • Chapter 4 summarizes the findings from a literature search regarding best practices with respect to site design guidelines and practices to promote the use of sustainable transport modes, including case studies where available.  It should be recognized that the contents of Chapter 4 reflect the literature review completed to date.  The collection of relevant literature and best practices will be an on-going task throughout the development of the Guide.

  • Chapter 5 provides a summary and directions on the content for the Guide.
