CITE 2013 - Calgary, AB, April 7th - 10th - The Many Faces of Transportation

Welcome!

As Chair of the Local Arrangements Committee (LAC), I am pleased to announce the 2013 CITE Conference and Annual General Meeting themed “The Many Faces of Transportation.” We look forward to welcoming you to Calgary, Alberta from April 7th to April 10th. The conference will be held at The Westin Calgary in the heart of Calgary’s vibrant downtown.

Conference Overview

The LAC recognizes that the work that you do on a daily basis covers all facets of transportation, or as the theme of our conference suggests “The Many Faces of Transportation.” Therefore, we are striving to have a conference that includes topics such as complex vehicular analysis, logistics, rail, transit, innovative solutions that optimize the use of infrastructure dollars, complete streets and other projects that address the accommodation of all modes of transportation. The technical program will be comprised of at least two concurrent technical tracks that will ensure coverage of planning and design, road safety, operations and maintenance. Stay tuned for updates on some new offerings that we are planning to integrate into the conference program.
Additionally, we will be offering a number of technical tours that complement the technical program and showcase activities in the region. Currently we are reviewing potential tours that include Calgary Transit’s LRT extensions, the over $2 billion expansion of the Calgary International Airport that includes the construction of Canada’s longest runway and the construction of a new international terminal, The City of Calgary’s construction of an over 600m long tunnel under the new runway and taxiways, the over $750 million Southeast Stoney Trail ring road project and a bicycle/walking tour of Calgary’s downtown that will highlight the recently completed RiverWalk and Peace Bridge.
We promise... you will not soon forget this conference experience!

Calgary. Be Part of the Energy.™

Above is the slogan that’s been developed to describe Calgary. That phrase describes not only Calgary’s business environment, but also an overarching idea that this is a land of big skies and big ideas where anything is possible. It also captures the year round outdoor playground in the Rocky Mountains that draws so many people to this vibrant city. While you’re here you’ll see the bustling activity that is Calgary, so come and enjoy the city and Be Part of the Energy™.
While you’re here, take time to enjoy some of Calgary’s exciting venues and activities including the Calgary Tower, the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame, Devonian Gardens , the TELUS Spark Science Center and the Calgary Zoo just to name a few … sorry you’ll miss Stampede. Explore some of Calgary’s trendy neighborhoods including Kensington, Inglewood, Marda Loop and the Beltline before or after the conference. And don’t forget that while you are here in Calgary you’re just over an hour’s drive from some of the world’s best skiing. With this year’s conference happening in early April, it’s a great opportunity to extend your trip and enjoy all that they Rocky Mountains have to offer.
Consider this your personal invitation, from me to you! I hope that you can join us for this exciting conference as we explore together “The Many faces of Transportation”.

I look forward to seeing you in Calgary!
